Oct 03, 2017 The 8 Gig USB stick I'd been using suddenly became unacceptable to Sync ('index full, some songs may not be available'), and thanks to the forum, I learned the 'pull fuse 14 to reset' trick. OK, great- Sync now finds that same USB stick to be perfectly acceptable. The factory reset resolved all problems with Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity including contact sync with my Ford Explorer Sync3 system. However, you also want to make sure that Sync3 is updated to the latest official version 3.0.
Add me to the list of people that regret upgrading to Sync 4.6.This upgrade includes a feature to invoke Siri by holding down the 'voice command' button on your steering wheel for 3 seconds. Unfortunately, it only works for Flex years 2011 and newer. Mine is 2010, which means the ability to invoke Siri via the iPhone home button is disabled when connected to Sync.
How To Download Ford Sync After Resetting To Factory Settings
Although many (including ford officials and dealers) have claimed downgrading to Sync 4.4 is impossible, there are records of some individuals online claiming it is possible. The process is simple and seems to work for them: perform a Master Reset, then install their old version of 4.4 via the thumb drive.Unfortunately, this hasn't worked for me. But, I think it's because I may have 4.4 files that don't work with my Flex. I recently purchased my 2010 Flex SEL used and upgraded directly to Sync 4.6, so I don't have any previous version install files.
Does anyone here have install files for an older version of Sync? I'm pretty certain it would need to be for Sync without the touchscreen (as, that's what I have).
Many thanks,
Jim
PS: Hi! First post...LOVE my Flex!
